Brian-SteelsWestern Australia's prisons are over-crowded and with deteriorating conditions and the State's Prison Officers Union has warned the situation cannot continue unless the State Government agrees to commit more resources and higher wages for guards.

In the meantime rights advocates have said those who are suffering the most during the dispute between prison guards and the State Government are the prisoners...
