YOUR SAY: Making time for the minister
ISSUE 190 - 12 Nov 2009

ISSUE 190, November 12, 2009: I have just received my copy of NIT, the articles therein of which I find most informative and educational.

However the item that almost screamed for attention was entitled 'It's Time'.

It is almost unbelievable that the Minister for Indigenous Affairs can not find the time over a period of eight months for such an important conduit to Indigenous readers.

To add insult to injury the minister's office notifies NIT to inform them that they are 'in the mix' for a possible interview, what a cheek and utter rudeness.

This tardiness borders on arrogance and a complete disregard to the important work carried out by NIT.

If it is not tardiness then perhaps it is apprehension on what questions may be put to her. It is time for the minister to come out from the shadow of complacency or seek another portfolio more fitting to her current actions.

Indigenous people should be concerned that their minister appears to have such little focus on communicating with them direct. As they say 'speak up or leave the room'. I look forward to a full and frank interview with the minister very soon.
