Fremantle snatch a finals spot with victory over Roos

michael walters_fremantleFremantle settled the AFL top eight for the September finals with a shock 53 point win over North Melbourne at Etihad Stadium on Sunday.

The 20.12 (132) to 12.7 (79) scoreline was the Dockers' first victory over the Kangaroos under the roof of Etihad Stadium in five attempts and ensured Fremantle's place in the finals.

St Kilda looks to the future as young guns show form

st kilda_terry_mileraSt Kilda coach Scott Watters and forward Stephen Milne insist the club has made progress this AFL season, even though they'll probably miss the finals for the first time in five years.

They point to the fact that nine members of the side that thrashed Greater Western Sydney 25.13 (163) to 5.5 (35) at Etihad Stadium on Saturday have played fewer than 20 AFL games.
