Frenzied interest in Lance Franklin and the winning form of the Sydney Swans has translated into a record membership tally for AFL club.
The Swans announced on Thursday they had ticked past 40,000 members for the first time.
It means the club, who signed Franklin on a nine year contract worth $10 million at the end of last season, comfortably topped the previous record of 36,358 set in 2013.
